About Me
Hello friends! I am so glad you are here!
I am a upper elementary teacher who has taught 3rd grade and 5th grade over the past 17 years.
One of my favorite subjects to teach is math. I wasn’t that good at math when I got to middle school and high school, and sadly I encountered many teachers who only got frustrated with me when I needed concepts to be repeated or retaught in different ways. Needless to say, I ended up tuning out and hating math. So sad!
Once I became a teacher, I was determined to find a way to make students love math. Through hands on activities, teaching multiple strategies and encouraging and supporting taking a chance, and learning from mistakes I have made my math class a place students love coming to!
I also love to incorporate creativity into math as much as I can through art projects. Students love to be able to show what they know in ways other than worksheets and assessments.
I love teaching all the subjects, as they each have their own opportunity for kids to shine, but if I had to pick one, it would be math.
I am a National Board Certified Teacher as a Middle Childhood Generalist, which covers ages 7-12. Achieving this certification was very challenging, but honestly the best professional development activity I have completed.
I love to create educational resources to use with the students in my classroom. I hope to help other teachers with their planning and teaching by offering my resources in my Teachers Pay Teachers Store: Hello Learning
