Use these digital puzzles as a math warm up activity, as part of your morning meeting, or as an enrichment activity.

Valentine Math Worksheets

Let’s be honest, a plain old worksheet can be pretty boring. Your students might not get excited about a regular worksheet about collecting data, but when you add a Valentine’s Day twist to the practice you will really build student interest and engagement.

Use Valentine’s Day-themed math worksheets for extra practice or to review skills taught earlier in the year.

Some fun kinds of Valentine’s Day practice pages include color-by-number practice, candy heart data, graphing candy hearts, mystery pictures, and word problems about sweet treats like candy and cookies. Your students will love these sweet activities!

Math with Valentine’s Cards

Do your students do a Valentine’s Day card exchange? Did you know you can also do math with those Valentine’s Day cards?

Add a touch of the holiday spirit to your data collection and data analysis lessons by using Valentine’s cards!

Have your students gather data about the Valentines they receive based on different categories.  You might have your students sort their cards using prompts like:

  • How many of your cards have animals on them?
  • How many of your cards have a riddle or joke on them?
  • How many of your cards have the word love on them?
  • How many of your cards have a food item on them?

You can even have students come up with their own categories.

Once they’ve sorted their cards and recorded their data they can calculate the fraction or percentage for each category.

This hands-on activity not only helps students practice important math skills but also allows them to explore data collection and analysis in a fun and engaging way.

Incorporating Valentine’s Day into your math lessons is a fun and easy way to keep your students engaged and motivated during the month of February. Whether you’re using brain teasers, logic puzzles, picture math equations, or Valentine’s Day math games, there are many ways to celebrate the holiday while also strengthening important math skills.
